Agri-Tech Chief Engineer/Engineering Director
About the job:
My client is an innovative startup that provides cutting-edge technological solutions for food and water security in Qatar and GCC countries. They are looking for an experienced head of engineering to lead a pioneering project in designing a portable vertical farm of the new generation.
You will be part of the senior leadership team and report to the CPO. You will be responsible for helping to pick project contractors, developing, and designing the layout of the vertical farm with subordinate assistance and managing its assembly. You will be responsible for the supervision of the project from its inception to completion.
For this role they are considering both contract and permanent placement candidates depending on whether the employee will decide to remain at the company after the project's completion or not.

Necessary key requirement for a candidate
- Engineering experience in design and commissioning of a vertical farms for cultivation.
- Supervise a highly specialized Engineering project in Vertical Farming
- Design from scratch the layout of a multifunctional vertical farm for growing different types of lettuce.
- Lead the team of subordinary engineers and manage all stages of product's assembly.
- Conduct maintenance and support at the final stage of the product assembly
- Oversee the key project processes, performance reports, data, and analysis.
- Conduct research and analysis of large data sets in regards of supplier’s technological solutions for constituent parts of the farm.
- Determine anticipated level of security of the final model based on the parameters and characteristics of the containers supplied by foreign contractors.
- Provide engineering thought leadership in the fields of automation and production design – think creatively and proactively.
- Proactively identify external resources when needed, facilitate contractual relationships, and integrate external resources into development teams.
- Develop the design of high capital projects in conjunction with corporate engineering.
- Improve the automation, safety, quality, reduce costs, improve production efficiencies.
- Work in tandem with the Chief Product Officer, Operations and Quality Managers, review and monitor quality and process improvements.
Qualifications:
- Design of vertical farms based on 40ft containers or other modular solutions
- Engineering Degree or related degree.
- 3 + years of engineering experience within the Agriculture Industry and Vertical Farming
- Specialization in multi-spectrum vertical farms to grow a wide range of agricultural products is a huge advantage.
- Demonstrable project leadership/management experience in vertical farming
- Actual experience in delivering 2-3 projects from start to finish in the relevant field.
- A proven track record of project management success in Agro-Engineering
- Ability to provide assistance in Strategy and Budget planning of high-cost projects.
- Ability to collaborate as a member of a senior-level innovation think-tank.
- Continuous Improvement experience is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
